Me, myself + I

I first heard Ice-T - New Jack Hustler from the movie New Jack City when I was 9 years old - as a child on a skiing holiday in Austria and by chance I found a cassette of Digital Underground - Humpty Dance as a child.

That's when it happened and luckily I have an aunt in New York who I visit regularly. In the 90s, cassettes were still popular - I lugged suitcases full of tapes...I had the House Of Pain - Jump Around Maxi-MC in my luggage, the song wasn't even available in Europe at the time. I bought the cassette of K-Solo - Time's Up on the street in Haarlem.

When I was 13, my father always drove me to the Waldstadion in Frankfurt, and as a passenger I was allowed to operate the radio. One evening I tuned in to HR3 and HR3 Clubnight with Sven Väth was playing. I said: Dad, drive home faster. He asked why. I said that I urgently needed to record what was playing on the radio on Grandpa's radio. To this day I have shoeboxes full of Clubnight cassettes with Sven Väth.

It happened again and as a 14-year-old I would sneak out of the cellar door on Thursday evenings, hitchhike or walk to Holzheim near Langgöns and go to La Boum - Pascal FEOS played there every Thursday - we gave him cigarettes and in return we were allowed to copy the records he was playing...that was the Harthosue and EyeQ time, the hard trance era...afterwards we ran to Tommy Bingel's Downtown Records Gießen and bought them again...

In my mid-20s, I stood behind two Technics 1210 MKII turntables for many years as "Jay Deluxe" and got the crowd dancing. At first I played disco house and house in the Club Quadrat and Kunstkeller in Gießen, then techno and breakz at the Under The Ground parties in Muk, AK44 or Under The Bridge. Finally, I got into beatz & breaks and nu-jazz, influenced by Thievery Corporation, Skeewiff and Thunderball. I played with Dusty and Romanovsky from Jazz & Milk Munich in the Mahagoni Bar Augsburg.

I have personally been collecting records for over 35 years now - save the vinyl! I have been able to expand my experience and interests over the years - I have now landed directly in ska and rocksteady via reggae and am devoted to it.

I worked in sales and then spent a long time as a buyer for RAM, IC chips and gaming products in the IT sector. I gave that up and looked for my true calling. One day I stood in front of my record shelf and said to myself: You stupid idiot, are you looking for your calling? You're standing right in front of it! The whole time...

I am a trained businessman, marketing manager and passionate record collector - I am now combining the two and turning my hobby into a profession.

In April 2022 I registered this business and my calling is to send YOU records.

BEATZ 4 life!
